"Dry cleaning" was never really dry.
Traditional dry cleaning uses a chemical solvent — most often perchloroethylene, or PERC — instead of water. It cleans well, but PERC is a known health and environmental hazard. Modern wet cleaning delivers the same results with a very different toolkit: precisely controlled water, biodegradable soap, and machines that manage temperature, agitation, and moisture down to the second. No PERC
No PERC, no petroleum solvents, no hydrocarbon vapor. Nothing that lingers on your clothes or in the shop air.
Gentler on fabrics
Water plus the right soap is actually easier on wool, silk, and cashmere than solvent — colors stay brighter, weaves stay tight.
Skin-safe finish
No chemical residue, no strong smell — better for anyone with sensitive skin, allergies, or kids in the house.
What still says "dry clean only"?
Modern wet cleaning safely handles the vast majority of garments labeled "dry clean only" — suits, dresses, wool coats, silk blouses, cashmere sweaters. A small number of specialty items still benefit from a true solvent process, and if we ever recommend that route for a garment of yours, we'll tell you before we clean it. (We don't take wedding gowns, leather, suede, or alterations.)
The short version
